Brogden became Brogden when the school was named after L.C. Brogden, the State Supervisor of Rural Elementary Schools. This appears to have been sometime between 1912 and 1916. The property for the school was purchased by deed dated July 20, 1912. The State Geologist reported a visit to Brogden Schoolhouse in Boon Hill Township on August 2, 1916. The brick building (now gone), replacing an earlier wooden building (but still there), opened in 1924.
